Partner, Growth & Sales Leadership
Matt Dell
A sales and business leader who has spent three decades building sales organizations, from enterprise public-safety systems to taking a regional distributor national, and who has owned, grown and sold a company and led another as CEO.
“Sales is the most honest part of a business: you win or you don't. My job isn't to close your deals; it's to build the team and process that keep winning.”
I love growth and I love the competition. What I enjoy most now is building a sales team that wins without me in the room.
Career
Where Matt has led
2023–2026
CEO, health technology company
Joined as a consultant and became CEO. Led the company, alongside Sara's growth and operations work, until the business was on track and profitable.
2015–2022
Business development and marketing consultant
Built sales processes, pipelines and go-to-market plans for growing companies, working alongside Sara on many of the same engagements. That included helping an event registration SaaS company raise capital.
2008–2015
Owner and VP of Sales & Marketing, Hi-Line Utility Supply
As an owner, Matt has been through the full cycle: growing and scaling a company while keeping it profitable, then selling it. He helped take a regional distributor national as revenue tripled and EBITDA doubled. Along the way, he grew the inside sales team from 3 to more than 10 and raised the average order from $800 to $1,200. He then led the sale of the company to a Fortune 500 buyer, from finding the buyer and making the case to negotiating the deal, with no business broker.
Earlier career
Sales and business development leadership
Before Hi-Line, Matt led sales and business development for technology and communications companies, including Motorola, Ericsson–GE and an IT services firm. He led sales of enterprise public-safety and communications systems to cities, utilities and public agencies, including the City of Chicago's 9-1-1 Center.
